What are the objectives of DPCC?

 

1.   Sustainable development: It balances the need for economic growth with environmental protection and social equity.

 

2.        Prevention: Preventing natural resources of the country

 

3.        Waste management: Effective waste management to protect the environment

 

4.       Consumer awareness: Convincing the general public about pollution and its harmful effects on human health and motivating them to use paper bags as against plastic bags, use public transport and not use firecrackers.

3.        Collecting, compiling, and preparing technical and statistical data related to air and water pollution

 

4.        Lay down the standards of sewage and trade effluents and for emission from industrial plants, health care establishments, and automobiles.

 

5.        Helping with the development of new technology for the treatment of sewage, trade effluents, and control tools

 

6.        Issuing consent certificates to industries falling into different categories like red, orange, green, and white

 

7.        Issuing authorization to industries and health care establishments falling in bio-medical waste authorization, hazardous waste management authorization, plastic waste management, battery waste management, and e-waste management.

Involvement of citizens in the work of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee

As a citizen of Delhi, one can make specific changes in the lifestyle to minimize the effects of carbon footprints and reduce the pollution effect from the environment.

 

1.        Avoid using plastic items and replace plastic bags and other items with paper and environment-friendly bags.

 

2.        Use share vehicles while going out for work or any event instead of individual cars.

 

3.        Use CNG vehicles that do not harm the environment.

 

4.        Celebrate festivals in environment-friendly ways. Do not burst crackers during Diwali as it can cause more harm to the environment and will cause ill health effects like allergies, cough, asthma issues, and more.

 

5.        Use filters for chimneys. Gas emitted in homes and factories is hazardous for air pollution and harms the air quality. Filters will reduce the effect of harmful gases absorbing in the air.

 

6.   Implementing Afforestation and reducing forest fires and smoking. Planting trees has many environmental benefits and helps in the release of oxygen.
